The finish is unlacquered where it should be, so it darkens gently with handling instead of flaking. It fits standard housings, so it is a straightforward swap for the fitting already on the wall. Small variations in grain, tone and texture are part of how the piece is made, not defects to be matched exactly. It works equally well in a newly finished space and in a room that has been lived in for years. Consider how the piece will read in daylight as well as under lamplight, since both change the tone of the materials.
Check the gang count and cut-out against your existing fitting before ordering.
