Cloak Down Coat with Oblique Placket
A cloak-style down coat built around an oblique placket and a generous hood, which together give it a silhouette that reads quite differently from a standard puffer. Shell and lining are 100% polyester and the body and sleeves carry a 90% white duck down, 10% feather fill, so the unusual shape does not come at the cost of real cold-weather performance. Cloak shapes trade some wind sealing for ease of movement, so this is a coat for cold dry days more than driving storms.
The oblique placket runs diagonally rather than straight down the centre front, removing the hard vertical line most coats have and softening the whole front of the garment. It is a design decision rather than a technical one, but it is the reason this coat looks considered rather than functional, and it pairs well with simple layers underneath.
The hood adds coverage at the head and neck for wind and snow, and the cloak cut leaves plenty of room to move. Wear it over knitwear through the coldest months, store it hung so the down keeps its loft, wash it rarely with a down-safe detergent, and dry it fully on low heat with dryer balls to restore the fill.
